B1 Scoring Rubric: Self-Check Grid for Practice

The B1 German exam scoring system is transparent-but most learners never see the full criteria.
This pillar post gives you a simple, clear, examiner-style self-check rubric for all four modules: Lesen, Hören, Schreiben, Sprechen.

Use this grid to:

• score your own mock exams

• track improvement

• identify weaknesses

• understand what examiners want

This rubric is aligned with Goethe, telc, and ÖSD evaluation principles.

⭐ Overview: How B1 Scoring Works

Most B1 tests use a similar scoring model:

• Lesen → approx. 25%

• Hören → approx. 25%

• Schreiben → approx. 25%

• Sprechen → approx. 25%

Passing normally requires 60% overall, or (for Goethe) passing each separate module.

This rubric simplifies examiner expectations into a practical self-check tool.
